24/7 Propaganda Origin Points Revealed on Twitter
In a recent update made to Twitter, a new feature was implemented that allowed users to view the location of all profiles on the app. This feature seems like it would be a non-issue, however this quickly proved to be untrue as many prominent accounts that were geared towards American politics were unmasked as bots and scams. Multiple accounts thought to be American turned out to be based in parts of Asia like India, and Africa in Nigeria. Social media has become a breeding ground for echo chambers of political discussions. A constant stream of news geared towards one group of people causes mob mentality and ignorance towards new and different views. Ignorance also may lead to stereotypes being reinforced and lead to discriminatory views and actions taken by people.
